MTS IP Testing Group 04 Oct 2002 15:06 #6229

Dear TTCN-3 list member,

This is an invitation to attend the start-up meeting of the new IP Testing group of ETSI TC MTS (Methods for Testing and Specification). This group has been created in response to a general demand from the ETSI membership for test specifications for IP-related standards (see the attached proposal from Prof. Dieter Hogrefe, chairman of MTS).

The meeting will take place at ETSI in Sophia Antipolis, France 22 October 14.00 - 18.00 (Hermes room). The following link gives meeting and registration details:

webapp.etsi.org/MeetingCalendar/MeetingDetails.asp?mid=22957

The main purpose of this start-up meeting is to finalise the Terms of Reference (Scope) of the IP Testing group and to discuss initial Work Items. It will also give us an opportunity to identify interested parties and, if possible, to produce some form of initial workplan. While we intend to cover many aspects of IP it will probably be IPv6 which has the initial focus. The following features are considered important in a process towards IPv6 testing activity:

- Core Protocols (Neighbour Discovery, Stateless Address Auto-configuration, ICMPv6, Path MTU, etc)
- Transition mechanisms (6to4, 4to6, SIIT/NAT-PT, DSTM, etc)
- Routing Protocols (OSPFv3, RIPng, BGP4+, etc)
- Mobility (MIPv6 drafts 13, 15, 18, etc)
- Auto-configuration

For those of you who would like to make comments to the meeting but cannot attend in person the last hour of the meeting (17.00 - 18.00) will be held over an audio link. The number to call is:

+33 4 92 94 49 52 lines open at 17.00 22nd october.

For more information on the IP Testing group activity please contact This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Please forward this message to anyone who may be interested.

Finally, for those of you who are interested, the MTS#35 plenary starts the day after the IP Testing group meeting on 23rd October (same location).

With best regards,

Anthony Wiles
